Last Coast Ride

Today was beautiful, I took my last long ride up the coast to Dyrhaven.  The beaches were pretty empty.
Bakken is closed, but you could wander around.
This buck was enjoying the quiet by the front gate.

Sharing Sunday

After speaking in Bornholm this morning, we were invited to Elder and Sister Johnson's for lunch with the Clawsons who were here picking up their son from his mission.

Elder Stanley Q Johnson makes his living as a sculpture. He shared with us pictures of some of his pieces.  He has done several with Indian legend themes.
We got home in time to share in the annual Fall "Music and the Spoken Word" put on by the stake.  Besides talented stake members they used a lot of very talented missionaries. A very nice evening.

Bornholm

A quick trip to Bornholm to speak in church. It was a beautiful drive last night with the full moon.
We stayed at the Posthuset Hotel (the old post office) right in the middle of Rønne, the main city.
As the tourist season is over, I think we were the only guests, and enjoyed this lovely breakfast just for us.
Bornholm is full of charm and beautiful scenery.  A favorite tourist destination for Germans, Danes and Swedes.

Final Friday

After our sessions tomorrow, we close down for our two weeks of cleaning. We are going out with a bang.  We had 5 sealing sessions today, 8 initiatory sessions, and a big baptism.  Our endowment sessions were also good, especially the one with the 14 elders and their companions who have been out one-month, plus 6 missionary couples.
These are just a few of these great young men I caught as they were leaving.
Getting a head start on the temple clothes laundry.

Tourist Attraction

A tour guide called about bringing a group to see the temple, she had a group of Mormons on the tour. We weren't open when they wanted to come which is just as well as we don't give tours.  But we did open the garden so they could walk around and take pictures.  Wonder if we are listed on "must sees" in Copenhagen.....

Season's End

The cruise ships have left for repositioning, Tivoli is closed in preparation for their Halloween decor, boats are covered and the harbor is empty.  The summer tourist season is about over.

But there was something going on as this band marched out of Christianborg Castle and into downtown.

And The Little Mermaid is never out of season.

Aarhus Stake Conference

We were up at 5 a.m.to make it to the Aarhus Stake Conference at 10.00.  We made it in plenty of time.  But there certainly wasn't much traffic that time of day as we crossed the Storebælt bridge.

It was held in the Aarhus Musikhus. How the people love to meet and mingle from all over Jutland and Fyn.  Elder Pilz was the visiting Area Seventy.
This is the Sønderborg Branch Primary and Young Women. They were darling and it was great to see so many from their little branch.

It was a beautiful sunny day and made for a pleasant drive home right after.
These are the five stake presidents of the Aarhus Stake, Left to right and newest to oldest: Steen Kreiberg, Kurt Frederiksen, Erick Rudesgaard, Karsten Larsen, and Knud Andersen.

Swedish Day

This darling girl is part of the Eriksson Clan from Sweden.  She received her own endowment today and is going to Minnesota on a mission.
We were in Malmo, Sweden by 5 pm this afternoon  to speak in their Saturday Night Session of Stake Conference.
Afterward we met at Pres and Sis. Clarks for a lovely supper with the Finish Area Seventy, Elder Juestnisse (spelling wrong, I'm sure.) the Stake Presidency, Pres and Sis. Beckstrom, the mission president and the Nilssons.  Pres. Nilsson besides being Jim's councilor, is the Malmo Stake Patriarch.

Ward Redo

Last Sunday, while we were speaking in another ward, they rearranged the boundaries of three of the wards in the stake.  We belong to the Frederiksberg Menighed which is right by the temple.  Our ward has lots of apartments and the young people move in, get started and then move out to homes. So we have our weak spots.  However, they have now moved 80 members, 40 of whom are very active into the ward boundaries. We got members from Roskilde and Gladsaxe 1Wards.
Roskilde's bishop is in our new ward boundaries but will stay in his ward and finish out the next 3 or 4 years.  Both relief society presidents and the stake president are also in our ward boundaries. A new adventure for everyone.

Fisketorvet

I biked down to Fisketorvet Mall earlier this week.  This bike bridge goes from the front to the back of the mall and then connects to a bike/walking  bridge across the harbor,  It is beautiful and very fun to ride

Some pretty innovative building
and check out the drinking fountain..

On His Own

Ramana  is from India and "happened" to have an opportunity to come to Denmark with work.  He was so excited to be able to receive his own endowments. He is a High Priest, having served in a bishopric in the first stake in India.  He says there are two more stakes coming soon.
I didn't understand all the details, but it was a bit of a miracle he was able to get all the visa work done to enable him to come.  His wife hasn't yet been able to let got of her Hindu religion, mainly because of family.  But she is very supportive and comes to church with him  They have a 4 year old and a baby.  Since he was all alone, Don Hansen acted as his escort.  He will be back tomorrow to do the work for his grandfather.

Couples at Knudsens

There are so many missionary couples serving, that the Knudsens invite them one night and the single missionaries another.  Tonight there were at least 20.

It was the Thornes' last dinner.  They leave on Thursday. The Buxtons at the end of the table are replacing them in the office.  Lynn Bryner, sitting next to Jim has been called to help in the mission office also.
WE had the temple missionaries, two sets of archiving missionaries, and the rest from the office.
The Knudsen's youngest two children, Lene and Daniel were there to help.  Daniel is a chef at a hotel in Jutland.

Missionary Slides

Manwarings had Family Night tonight.  Brett had put all of his mission slides on DVD and we watched them.  It was fun to see what everyone looked like 50 years ago, but also the landmarks.
The Nilssons were polite guests as they didn't recognize anything.
 Rådhusen Plaza 50 years ago.

Nykøbing Falster

We went to Nykøbing Faster today to speak in their sacrament meeting.  It is a very small branch an hour and a half away.  This is about a third of the branch.  The Johansen Family with their 5 boys are the core.  There is one girl and three active sisters.  Bro and Sis Graabek moved there a year ago and have been a great blessing.  She and I were the only ones in Relief Society.

They have a very nice little church and the missionaries live above it.
The Graabeks invited us and the missionaries for dinner.  They are living in this lovely summer home which they designed and ordered from somewhere in Eastern Eruope. It came in pieces in a truck and assembled on the spot..
 A charming picturesque area.
