Show and Tell

I developed an eye infection yesterday and finally had an appointment this morning with a general eye physician who referred me to the Glostrup Eye Hospital.  They asked if it would be okay to have some students come in and do a show and tell.
I'm on two salves for the infection.  I hope it works fast.

Farewell and On We Go

We took Mike and Family to the airport at 6.30 a.m.  They are off to Paris and we are off to work again. However. our day was extremely slow, thank goodness for a super group of YM and YW that came to do baptisms.

Since Mike had a rental car, we came home on the subway, sitting on the very last seat.  An interesting perspective.

History Time Together

Kronborg Castle in Helsingnør has rearranged their tour pattern and added so many new exhibits.   We all really enjoyed visiting there.
The weather was beautiful and we were actually able to eat our lunch outside.

We took the ferry across to Helsingbor

Visited a couple of Family Historical sites
And enjoyed a great buffet at the Fisketorvet Mall back in Copenhagen.
A super fun day.

Roskilde with Williams

Another sunny day, however, the 20 MPH winds made it cold outside. We enjoyed the Viking Ship Museum and were interested to see all the volunteers spending their Monday Easter Holiday getting a the boats and paraphernalia ready for the summer.

 Vikings with tennis shoes...
A wedding at the Domekirke, where all the kings and queens of Denmark are buried sas a fun surprise. Nothing like crashing a wedding of someone you don't know in a language you don't understand.
We were there long enough to see and hear the dragon being slayed twice on the clock.
Finished up the day at The Little Mermaid and Kristina

God Påske

After church we went up to the Frederiksberg Castle to see the Carl Block paintings.  Since there is no electricity and it was a cloudy day,we had to view them by phone flashlight....

These three darling girls were dressed in replica costumes of major portraits in the museum.  It is their student job to come and walk around the museum on holidays and weekends.

Another fun addition was the Children's museum in the cellar that let the kids dress up (with the help of an attendant) in lovely period costumes.
We came home for a  typical Danish fleskestege dinner, Family Night and
lager kage.

Company Saturday

Our grandchildren came to do baptisms for the dead at 10.  Their father, Mike, was able to baptize them and use his mission language - Russian. A very sweet experience.  We left the temple after the last session and had a beautiful day to see Copenhagen.
The Canal Tour is our favorite place to start.

Next, The original Christus, which is a must see.
And then a  walk down the stroget to the Hans Christian Andersen Statue..
And finally home on the nice warm city bus for a Danish Polser dinner.

A Day Full of Blessings

So many blessings today..
Our son Michael and his family arrived safely from Salt Lake after making a very short connection in Paris.
These great young men drove 8 1/2 hours one way,  in three cars with their  leaders from the Dresden Stake to do baptisms yesterday and today.
And this beautiful eye was all I got from being caught by a rug, and ramming into a the door jam.  It could have been so much more.

Sister Missionaries

We had a special missionary session at 1.30 today before we started our regular schedule.  All of the sisters had been in for a conference.  After a month in the land, they bring in all the new missionaries and their trainers.  In this case there were 8 new sisters, plus their 8 trainers which only left 4 other sister missionaries, so they were included as well.  There were also 10 elders some of whom are on their last month, who also came to the session.
I only caught half the sisters as the rest had to catch trains to get back to their areas around the mission.  Such great young people.

Påske Week

This week all of the schools are out for Easter, and many of the stores will be closed Thursday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday.  They open Saturday for necessities.  Fortunately our Aldi is open all weekend so I'm not too worried about stocking up.
Because of the holiday, we had and will have lots of visitors.  What better place to celebrate Easter than in the temple.
Hannah, my lovely downstairs neighbor, left me this sweet Easter remembrance.

Language Tests - Gone

Denmark has a language requirement for those coming into the country for an extended time.  All missionaries, including wives, were required to take it.  It is quite stressful to say the least.  However, now, the wives can fill out papers and be exempt since their husbands speak the language.
We  had 20 senior missionaries at Knudsens tonight for a fabulous lamb, Easter dinner. Two couples had come in from the Aarhus Stake to take care of their papers.
Besides loving the lamb we had this great chocolate mousse decorated with gold leaf flecks.

Back Track

Our weekend was so full, I didn't get to share our fabulous Saturday in the temple.  Moroni beckoned many and we worked at capacity on Saturday.  It was Malmo's Stake Temple Day and they had a great turnout including many temple workers.  We had about 40 workers.   We had two full sessions plus five extra on the 12.00 session. Both sealing rooms were going all day and there were  full initiatories.  We had many to the baptism and to top it off, there were two who received their own endowments.
Sis. Petersson is from South America, married a Swede and joined the church a year ago, alone..  Elder Ravn is from Denmark going to the Manchester England Mission. We ran the session in Swedish and they both ended up listening on earphones.
A cute sister missionary( Siems)and her family came from Germany on Wednesday.  She received her endowment and then they spent the rest of the week coming to the temple.
David Barrett who was converted slightly over a year ago by a buddy in the army, also received his endowment this week.  He has a strong testimony, a beautiful wife and several tatoos  He is the Sunday School President in our ward.  We are so pleased for them.  They are just waiting for a temple clearance to be sealed in the temple.  Hopefully it will come before their baby who is due in the summer.

Spring Solstice

We are crossing the time mark! There will now be more daylight than nighttime, yeah!
We celebrated it at the Easter Music and the Spoken Word  at the church.  They had some good musical numbers with members and super talented missionaries.

How fabulous is this Spriing floral piece on the pulpit.

Jekyll and Hyde

Tonight, 14 of us went to see Jekyll and Hyde, the musical starring Thomas Kofod.  It was fabulous!
It was in the lovely old Det Ny Teater.

Thomas received a well-deserved standing ovation.  He was gracious enough to invite us onstage after the show.  Over the weekends he has four shows in 48 hours.  It is an exhausting role to watch, I can imagine what it is to perform.
Before we all went to The Dalaman which is just a half block from the theater and had a great dinner.

Swan Song

There are many  ponds and lakes around Copenhagen.  And they all have swans.  No wonder one of Hans Christian Andersen's most famous stories is centered on  them.

Signs of Spring

Daffodils are one of my favorite Spring flowers. Eons ago it was the flower I chose when I was a Beehive.
They have put the pansies out on the Temple Square.  It makes a perfect place to try to catch a little of the lovely sun we have had for a couple of days..

Circus

The circus has come to town.  There is an open field not too far from us where the circuses always set up.

Such fun houses on wheels for the circus families.  Cute "patios" abounded.
