Buffets

Steve and Marian Clawson organized a luncheon today down at Fisketovet, a big shopping mall in downtown Copenhagen on the harbor.  Ten years ago, I don't remember  being able to find a salad bar, let alone a buffet.  But today there were three good buffets close together in the mall.

This is only half the group.  Bro. Keller on the left and his wife are visiting Dorte and Don Taylor.
We ate at the Cyprus today for 69K for lunch.  It has a Middle East leaning, with great deep dish pizza! The Tex Mex is Mexican and looked great and upstairs was an Italian Buffet.
We will definitely be back as there is plenty of free parking for three hours and check out the fabulous view.

Visiting Treats

There is a bit of a tradition here that when you go home or visiting teaching you take something.  If you are being visited you offer a little treat.
Today our home teachers came and brought these chocolate covered licorice balls.  They are growing on me...
We took a little bag of candy as we visited the Andersens and they gave us some homemade brunsvær (spelling could be off.)  It is pastry covered with brown sugar and butter and delicious.

Pizza Saturday

Saturday was often pizza night at our house years ago and tonight it fit the bill perfectly as it was rainy and cold and makes a fast dinner..

You can buy these great pizza kits for about $2.50.  You just lay the dough out on the cookie sheet, some brands even come with their own baking paper,, spread the tomato sauce and put your own toppings on top.

Voila, pizza.  We splurged and opened one of the A&W rootbeer the Hoges left us.  Pizza with rootbeer....perfect.  We can get A&W at Meny, a grocery store near by, but it is pricey...$3-$4 a can! It is in the American section as most Danes do not care for the taste of root beer.

Friday Fun

It is so fun to see young people come to the temple on their Friday nights.

Ruby, on the left came in from Odense and wanted to do baptisms so called some friends and they made a night of it.   Such a good influence.
These two cousins from Utah are traveling  and chose to come to the temple on their Friday night.
This darling couple, Stephen Meilsoe and Anna Sophia Krieberg just got engaged and came to the temple for their Friday night.
And here they all are after meeting in the temple and becoming friends.

Tomatoes

The tomato plants from seed are doing well.  I gave this one to the Jana and Nilla Amanda and Nils who live two doors down.  They have loved watching it grow.  The tomatoes are just starting to get red for them.  The geranium I rescued from the Aldi dumpster and it is doing very well.
.
This is the first tomato harvested.  As you can see they are not a big variety, but it tasted great.  However, the skins seem thick. I wonder why.

A Wow Wednesday

Wednesdays are not usually our busiest day, but today we had several important visits. First, a darling little girl came with her parents to celebebrate her 12th birthday today and do baptisms for the dead.  She was so pleased and happy to be here.

Next we had two darling girls receive their own endowment.
Hanna is preparing to go to Salt Lake to meet a boy from Singapore who worked in her city in Sweden and left on a mission from their ward. He went to England where we actually knew him at the MTC.  She has been to Singapore for three weeks and now they are going to go to the temple in Salt Lake and try to figure out what is ahead for them.  I love hearing how Heavenly Father works in people's lives.  If He is working in their lives, you can be sure He is working in ours.
Sophie Stockholm finally made it to the temple.  She was scheduled three months ago and sprained her ankle.  That foot is better, now the other one hurts.  Before she goes to the hospital in the morning, to check on it, she was determined to come to the temple.  Yeah Sophie

Annual High Priest Dinner in the Garden

Every year the High Priests go to the Petersen Family Have (Garden) Restaurant.. You had three meal choices: salmon salad, omelet, bacon/potatoes/parsley sauce.  The omelet was better than last year, but the bacon overdone....

I had to meet the group there as I went out visiting teaching on the bike and got lost on the way back.  But I did get in 12-13 miles today. Hope I can walk in the morning,
