Missionary Slides

Manwarings had Family Night tonight.  Brett had put all of his mission slides on DVD and we watched them.  It was fun to see what everyone looked like 50 years ago, but also the landmarks.
The Nilssons were polite guests as they didn't recognize anything.

Nykøbing Falster

We went to Nykøbing Faster today to speak in their sacrament meeting.  It is a very small branch an hour and a half away.  This is about a third of the branch.  The Johansen Family with their 5 boys are the core.  There is one girl and three active sisters.  Bro and Sis Graabek moved there a year ago and have been a great blessing.  She and I were the only ones in Relief Society.

They have a very nice little church and the missionaries live above it.
The Graabeks invited us and the missionaries for dinner.  They are living in this lovely summer home which they designed and ordered from somewhere in Eastern Eruope. It came in pieces in a truck and assembled on the spot..
 A charming picturesque area.

Golden Days

Copenhagen YSA sponsors "Golden Days" every September.  It isn't as big as FestiNord but does draw kids from all over.  We meet some from Germany, Norway, Sweden, Italy and the US.  They had temple morning and we had 46(over full) on the session and 30 plus in the baptistry.  It was a great morning and wonderful to see so many dedicated young adults here in this part of the world.
This is only part of the group.  The other half came out later.
Also visiting today were our good friends Olupher and Bjork from Iceland.

Just Like Home

Recently one of the main grocery stores near by, Meny (previously Super Best) has changed their whole format and what they offer.  I went in this week and this is what I found.

Looks like all the delicatessen sections in US grocery stores.....except for the case with quarters of whole cows.
These are all preprepared meals you can just take home and warm up.  This is also new since we were here ten years ago.

Danish Products

The Danes are very proud of the things they produce and grow in the country.  They especially like their Danish strawberries.  But now we are enjoying their lettuce, cucumbers and apples.

Cure and Car Park

I had a return visit to the cornea clinic at the Glostrup Hospital yesterday and the infection in my left eye is gone!   I am to come back in two weeks just for a follow up.  I was in and out in less than an hour. Impressive service.  It is certainly nice to be able to see without salve in my eye. I feel very blessed.
This was the hospital parking lot.  Very nice with all the shade trees.  But even more impressive is the brick work.  Thnik about every brick being layed by hand and note the design for each parking place.  This is very common all over Denmark.

Mr. T

Sometimes you just connect with people.  Tom Pollard is in our ward and working his way back into activity.  He was baptized at 14, got out in the world as an excellent soccer player and then a  disc jockey and lost his hold.  He is working on figuring out the gospel again and we have become friends.  He likes his alone time but today he took us to lunch at his favorite Chinese Restaurant ......
Fish Chop Suey, - Tom and Jim's pick.
And then we took him to Tivoli for ice cream.

It was a super day: good weather, flowers and a nice walk and talk through the park.
