Welcome Larsens

Welcome to Trudy and Bob Larsen, our new temple missionaries from St.  George.  Bob was a missionary 50 years ago with Jim and Brett Manwaring was his first companion.  It will be fun to renew the associations.
Ten years ago they served a 2 year mission in India, in the mission office.  Denmark will be a holiday.
We are so happy they have arrived! Today we were working at full capacity.  Fortunately we had a lot of good workers and visitors who chose to attend the temple the weekend before Christmas.

Clementines

Clementines are one of the favorite holiday foods in Denmark.  Right now they are so good and so cheap.  This week I could buy 2 pounds for $.75 on a food ad.
They are at every holiday party.  A good option to all the sweets.

Helping the Lost

I went to visit a new sister this morning.  I was right on schedule, until I took the wrong street.  I just needed to go 30 feet further for the right one, but as you can imagine I ended up a long way from where I wanted to be.   I stopped at this little flower show and this darling lady printed off a map and got me to the right place.  She had a boyfriend in Turkey so fortunately, spoke good English.
Flower shops and bakeries are everywhere and have the hardest hours.  They are open almost every day of the year as flowers are the main gift people take to others when they go to dinner or to visit.

Such a Small Group

Knudsens Couples Dinner was small tonight, only 14.  We have had up to 24.  We have lost two couples and one couple was taking a Swiss missionary to Sweden to renew his visa, others were preparing for the Missionary Zone Conference tomorrow.  The rest of us had a great time and a great meal.
We finished with aeblskivers, jam and powdered sugar, a Christmas time favorite.

So many cute Christmas decorations.  Elsa does a lot with cut our paper designs.

Farewell to the Hansens and Ravn-Petersens

We loose two missionary couples this week.  Don and Kayla Hansen return to Bountiful and  Lise and Ole Ravn-Petersen go home to Aarhus after three months here as temple missionaries.  We will miss both couples and hope to manage until Larsens come on Friday and then two couples the first of January.
We had the ususal flæskesteg dinner with ris alamand.  Always delicious.
The Buurs and Manwarings joined us.

Christmas Treats

It's about time to be thinking of Christmas treats.  Denmark has some very traditional food which I will share as they come across our table.  But tonight this is what is roaming around our house.
Homemade carmels which I should have boiled 15 minutes instead of 14.  But they taste great.
Our Sunday School teacher in the English Class brought these lovely little homemade truffles
Brunkage which are classic mild ginger flavored Christmas fare available in every store this time of year..

Dejlig Aften

The Temple Presidency was invited to Pres. and Sis. Bernskov's, ( the Stake President) home for a lovely dinner and evening.  We missed the Nilssons who had to go home to Sweden for the weekend.
Anna had so many fun Christmas decorations and details.

Always lots of candles and such a clever use of nature.
Love the reindeer feeding bag.....
