Ris a"lmande

One of the best parts of the Christmas Season is ris a grøde  and ris a'lmande.  I tried it this week.

 First step is to boil the rice in milk for a few minutes and then wrap it in your comforter and let it sit for the day and finish cooking..
    The plain rice is served warm with butter and sugar and cinnamon as a main dish,  Delicious.

The next day you fold in whipped cream and chopped almonds for ris a lamand and top it with cherry sauce. You leave one whole almond to be found and kept secret until after all the pudding is eaten.  The whole almond winner gets a prize, often a marzipan pig.















which is  ris pudding with chopped almonds inside and cherry topping on top.  There is usually a least one whole almond in the  pudding.  The one who finds it keeps it a secret until all the pudding is gone.  They are then awarded a prize, often a marzipan pig.
