Home Again

Home again, but where?  Most of the photos for the next few days will be of our Utah Home. It was a great visit and we were so happy to see everyone and appreciate the effort  of all those who put their schedules on hold to entertain and take care of us.  We both return with a clean bill of health, clean teeth and lovely hair.
Our first morning home we had brunch with a group of friends whose husbands all celebrated their  50th birthday the same year.  We have stuck together for 20 years now.

As you can see, the table was beautiful, the food great and the company wonderful.

I drove to Ephraim to meet with my brothers and sisters and had such a fun day with them.

This is our childhood home in Ephraim and is beautifully taken care of by my sister Carol and her husband Jay and my brother Hal.

This is our farm house west of Ephraim.  Hal also takes wonderful care of this and watches over the leased land.

Thr grandchildren's museum ...collection of bones and interesting odds and ends they've found on their farm visits.

Almost on our Way!

I ran a few errands today on  my bike. This is what happens when it is raining and you are on your bike.  Actually with a helmet on , it isn't too bad as you don't feel the rain on your head.  I leave the tissues in the basket for two reasons: one I can wipe the seat off if it doesn't get too wet, two it helps me recognize it among the hundreds of others when I park.
WE leave in the morning for Utah.  I may or may not be able to figure out how to add to the blog. there.  If not, I will hopefully be back on in a couple of weeks.  We come back to the busiest week of the year.  Week 42.  The schools are closed and all the youth from the three stakes come to do baptisms.  We will be going from early morning till night as well as having our regular sessions.

On my way, I noticed the first signs of Christmas ......

Preparations

Today was one of the two preparation days we have before we leave for Utah.  I have washed white clothes all day.  It will be more fun to come back to clean clothes than have it waiting.
I also did a little shopping.  George Jensen is a famous Danish Designer.  A stop at the outlet store was worth the time and savings.  The Royal Copenhagen department on the lower floor isn't as good a deal.  They are better bought at antique shops.

She's Gone

It would have been very sad to see Debbie go this morning, except that we will see her again on Wednesday when we arrive in Salt Lake for 10 days.  Daughters are so much fun to be with.  We could go at our our speed and talk and look as much as we liked,
She is a computer wiz and helped me put the history of my Christensen grandparents on the Church's  My Tree sight.  Thanks from both sides of the veil, Deb.

Saturday Stroll

We had an excellent Saturday, our last day before shut down.  We had three baptismal groups the last being this great group of Young Men from the Roskilde Ward.  They WALKED to the temple, about 20 miles.  They started at 6 a.m. and stopped at the church to clean up before coming to the temple at 2 pm. They were pretty tired but should go to bed feeling proud of accomplishing something hard.
They were ages 12-18 and all looked very mature in their suits, white shirts and ties.

Debbie took a last stroll , with dozens of others, down by the harbor and The Little Mermaid.  She goes home in the morning and we follow her to Utah on Wednesday for 10 days.

On Her Own

Debbie has been great to get on the bus and explore Copenhagen on her own while we have been at the temple.  Here are some of the high spots.
Ny Havn where she reports they have fabulous ice cream and sorbet.
                                                            From a different angle.

Christianborg Palace, where Parliament sits and  the Stock Exchange -0ne of the oldest in the world.
And of course the main statue of Hans Christian Andersen, Denmark's most beloved national figure in the city square.

Temple Story

We have so many wonderful people come to the temple. Last Saturday a young man, Peter, came with the YSA group for their Golden Days.  He is from Ghana, but now lives in Italy where he met the church. He came after the baptism and made arrangments to receive his own endowments on Wednesday. He had all the proper recommends but had never been able to get to the Swiss Temple with his ward because of work.  He was so excited and we asked one of our temple workers to be his escort.  It was a sweet experience to realize we are all family in the church.
