Chairs - Gone

Today they took the two big chairs to be recovered.  I wasn't here when they took them out the door, but it was a squeeze and they had to take the feet off.
This really is such a nice big open room.

Temple Tuesday

The second Tuesday of every month we have a special temple session for the Roskilde and Frederiksberg Wards.  This year they have been very well attended.  Afterward they go to the church for refreshments.  There is always bread, cheese, cold meat, jam and fruit plus a cookie or sweet. So healthy.
This was the fabulous homemade bread Sister Koch made, a huge loaf. This is only a fourth.

This was the tail end of the group.  I need to remember to take  pictures sooner.

Little

Denmark is known for their great space-saving designs.  Most apartments are small and the furniture clean-lined.  Their cars are small and economical.  I looked at this little car out my kitchen window all morning.  It says, "Take Me Home."  You could almost pick it up

Technology

With Tom's passing we have tried to keep in contact with our family in Utah.  As it happened our internet went out and we ended up going to other apartments in the building to connect.  We are so lost without our internet!  We have a great brother, Benjamin Andersen, in the ward who came over this afternoon and got us back on line,,,He unplugged the power and plugged it in again. Really! Next time we will be so much smarter.  He also fixed a couple of other technology problems and we are most grateful.

We spoke at the Amager Branch today..in Danish.  The Relief Society teacher, Christine, used this big screen TV for her lesson. There is so much one can to with technology, not me, but someone.

The Relief Society President (sitting down) has a great story.  She met a man on an LDS singles site. His wife had left him with two girls 10 and 7 for an 18 year old boyfriend. Since he was a pilot he didn't feel limited  by geography and connected with this lovely lady with two little girls in  Denmark.  They are married now and he works as a pilot in China, 4 weeks on and 4 weeks off.  Again, amazing how the Lord works in people's lives!

Today was a day of highs and lows.
This cute couple returned from Norway to be married by Jim.  She is from Canada, he from Norway.  Since none of their family could come to the temple, they chose not to have anyone at the ceremony.  We provided witnesses and I was the only guest.I understand their thinking and it actually was a very sweet time for the two of them.
We had three baptismal sessions with the Copenhagen Stake youth and did over 1400 ordinances which is a lot for us. We loved it and our temple missionaries were magicians at getting all the laundry done.

We enjoyed a lovely dinner at the Paulsens with the Leits and Bernskovs.
Check out the clever napkin folding.
The low of the day was learning of Jim's brother's, Tom, passing away. Our children were all with him at the time and we are so grateful for their love and support while we are away.  They are magnificent.

Baptisms and Family History

This week we have had several people come in who have just discovered the joy of family history and finding names to bring to the temple.  We also have those that have been doing it for years and love the work and spend any free time they have on it.
One sister spend the day with an aunt and brought in 200 names and could hardly wait to get home to find more.  Another sister came to us several months ago with some serious health complaints and hadn't been able to come to the temple for over a year because of anxiety and over stimulation.  We agreed she could wear ear plugs and bring a pillow and shawl.  She has come every week and now twice a week and is an entirely different woman.  She smiles and is so excited about findig names and bringing them to the temple.  It really is a miracle.
Tomorrow we have the Copenhagen Stake youth coming to do baptisms in three different sessions. Many members have sent in names for them to be baptized for.  It will be a great day for souls on both side of the veil.

Grocery Shopping

Since being in Denmark I have never gone grocery shopping in the car.  There are 5 grocery stores within two blocks so I mainly walk or ride the bike.  Today I bought some fairly heavy things and I was grateful for the bike basket as I got them home without any trouble.  Unlocking the front door and getting into the elevator was another story.
When I know I am buying a lot or heavy items, I take my NEW shopping cart.  It really is an upgrade.  It folds and the handle can be pulled up to a comfortable height..  Such luxury.
