Dyrehaven

Dyrehaven (Danish 'The Deer Park'), officially Jægersborg Dyrehave, is a forest park north of Copenhagen. It covers around 11 square kilometres. Dyrehaven is noted for its mixture of huge, ancient oak trees and large populations of red and fallow deer.  It was used as a hunting ground for Christian V.  There are many paths through forests, fields and  golf course.
You can see how close this deer is to the stroller.  I was so excited to see a deer.
Hermitage of the King's Hunting "cottage."
Then I saw this group of big buck "hanging out".
This big herd was just down the road from the lodge.
And over the hill was this herd.
At each gate to the park are these picturesque houses for the park wardens.

An old stable for the hunting animals.
This is the golf club house with the deer in the front yard.
All in all a fabulous adventure. It is a good thing I went on Tuesday.  Today it is only in the 50's and raining.

  1. I love all the deer! We have very similar pictures of buffalo in yellowstone - which I'll post soon.
